NETWORK ENGINEER (CITRIX FOCUSED)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Citrix Engineer will be responsible for directing the day to day activities of 2nd tier Citrix operations personnel, as well as to provide 3rd tier Citrix escalation support of the environment including: new system delivery, change requests, proactive availability and performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and the resolution of system issues. The ideal candidate will have senior engineering experience with Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop, Provisioning Services environments running on top of VMware vSphere. Candidates must have strong communication skills, and the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leads a team of Citrix Engineers providing support for environment including new desktop system delivery, change requests, proactive availability and performance monitoring, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and the resolution of virtual desktop and application issues.
  • Managing and ensuring the Tickets Queue are being properly addressed in a timely manner.
  • Act as the Point of Contact for Citrix Team where the Team Lead will represent the Citrix Team in meetings and discussions
  • Lead Desktop Virtualization and Application Delivery infrastructure improvements and initiatives and ensure the team is complying with standard procedure and protocols.
  • Drive team to fully exploit products such as Provisioning Services, XenClient, AppDNA, ShareFile, PowerShell, and other virtualization tools to manage and maintain the Citrix environment efficiency
  • Provide escalation technical support and issues resolution for Citrix Virtual Desktop environment
  • Ensure team is following best practice for software packages and modifications via SCCM, login scripts, or GPO.
  • Ensure team is complying with patching standards for Citrix Servers, Security and systems patches on all Citrix servers.
  • Perform QA for procedural documentation throughout the lifecycle of the system
  • Assist and mentor junior team members on projects and tasks.
  • Drive product assessments and POC initiatives
  • Participate in Change Management and Problem Management calls.
  • Train offshore teams on operations' support procedures, evaluate their performance and take corrective actions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong technical knowledge of most versions of Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop, up to 7.6 as well as NetScaler experience
  • Experience deploying and supporting large scale Citrix environments and experience with multiple Citrix Farms.
  • Experience with scripting (VBSCRIPT, PowerShell, C++)
  • Experience with server deployment, maintenance, and management of software applications, and support tools
  • Proficient use of debugging, analytical, and monitoring tools
  • Strong technical knowledge installing operating system and third-party software installation, upgrades and maintenance.
  • Strong technical knowledge installing, documenting and configuring hardware.
  • Ability to troubleshoot software problems with operating systems or third-party products
  • Strong knowledge of client/server and internet systems architectures.
  • Developed analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to take direction and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
