Job Description

Volt is seeking senior Level 3 tech who is knowledgeable in Cisco ACI Data Center Networking Engineer in the Plano, TX  area with some travel required.

Job Description: This role is customer facing and requires strong knowledge with Cisco ACI related features (contracts, micro-segmentation, etc.) and security. The Cisco ACI Data Center Networking Engineer requires skills directly related to the design, implementation, and management of software defined networking (SDN) solutions. Data center technologies and concepts (platforms, virtualization, storage, networking, administration, compute, service-graphs, etc.) experience strongly preferred.

Principle Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery of Cisco ACI planning, design, implementation & optimization services.
  • Will follow Low-Level and High-Level designs of data center networks utilizing industry best practices.
  • Provide advanced network implementation, support and troubleshooting services.
  • Maintain consistent contact with customer staff to ensure that services conform to customer requirements.
  • Provide a broad range of services in the assessment of customer's network requirements; including Routing and Switching, Security, and Wireless technologies.
  • Engage with other engineering resources to provide the appropriate resolution for customers. Services include in-depth knowledge of the customer’s infrastructure and configurations.
  • Engineer and research technology based upon capacity or functionality requirements for routing and switching, security, and wireless.
  • Implement tactical plans to meet timelines and ensure minimal disruption to the Customer environment.
  • Assist with improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree  or 10+ years of professional work experience
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting complex Cisco networks.
  • SD-WAN (IWAN, Viptela) implementation and migration experience.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
  • Experience with logical design models (L2/L3, VPC, VDC, Datacenter Zones, Spanning tree, VFR, VTP, VLANs, physical cabling).
  • Working technical knowledge of network control protocols (QOS, PfR, PoE, NTP, DHCP), network management protocols (CDP, FTP, TFTP, SNMP) and security protocols (SSH, HTTPS, AAA, IPSec, TustSec).
  • Strong knowledge of IP communication and routing is required (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP). Experience with inter-company routing is preferred.
  • Understand WAN/LAN and transport technologies (Ethernet, Frame Relay, DMVPN, WAAS and MPLS).
  • Knowledge or experience with Cisco Nexus 9K and Cisco ACI is preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience F5 load balancing, Palo Alto technologies, Cisco UCS, or Cisco MDS is preferred.
  • Able to conduct research into networking issues and products as required.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
