Job Description

VOLT’s client in Spokane, WA is looking for a Security Engineer. 

Job Description-

The Security Engineer will be responsible for evaluating, designing, and implementing security-focused technologies and services while working with other technical Engineers and project team members (Server, Client, Network, Communication, and Application) to create a secure environment. Will also perform security analysis of operational environments for threats and vulnerabilities to assess compliance to accepted industry, government, and company standards.  The Security Engineer will have a technical background in system and/or network administration or similar experience from IT consulting in addition to having a technical knowledge in security engineering principles.

Assignment Type- This is an estimated 12+ month Contingent/Temporary position in Spokane, WA 

Job Requirements- 

  • GSEC, CISSP, GCIH, CCNP, MCSE preferred.
  • Ability and proven track record of getting projects completed.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of a minimum of 4 of the following areas:
    • Local area and Wide area networking,
    • Network protocols such as TCP/IP,
    • Network security systems such as IDS, IPS, Firewalls, Proxies, etc.
    • Computer Security principals and applicability
    • Linux OS distributions and Windows Server and workstation platforms
  • General knowledge of security infrastructure (IDS, firewall, VPN, SIEM, Proxy Servers, etc.), encryption technology and practical applications (digital certificates, PKI, VPN, IPSec, SSL, S/MIME, Kerberos, etc.)
  • Basic understanding of common security exploit techniques (XSS, SQL Injection, MITM).
  • Possess excellent research, analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Verbal and written communication skills required to collaborate and work effectively with both technical and non-technical staff to achieve security goals.
  • Prefer experience with SOX, NERC CIP, and regulated industries.
  • Ability and proven track record of getting projects completed.
  • Ability to foster effective security awareness to peers
  • Ability to identify objectives and achieve results with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to make efficient, correct decisions under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced environment with ongoing change and growth.
  • Applicant must be intellectual, passionate about technology, crave responsibility, lead/mentor when needed and be eager to apply knowledge to real business solutions.
