Job Description

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking an experienced Operations Manager for a company in the fiber optic cables production.  The chosen candidate will manage and oversee Assembly areas and warehouse activities. He/she will work closely with other departments including Engineering, Purchasing, Warehouse, Sales, Quality and Finance, to handle all aspects of product delivery and services to assigned customers. The daily activities will range from material requirements, production scheduling, returned materials processing and investigation, to final delivery to the customer.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Must be able to apply strategic planning, direct and coordinating the manufacturing of products in compliance with company goals and objectives
  • Establish controlling conditions of production in order to satisfy customer and quality specifications
  • Will confer with direct staff to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions
  • Active engagement in standardization and cost reduction programs
  • Organize and direct workflow to meet production requirement in a cost-efficient manner which increases productivity
  • Maximizing the efficiency of production lines
  • Plan and schedule flow of product
  • Manage information flow between department managers and supervisors
  • Manage supervisor ’efforts on production and manufacturing processes
  • Administrate company policies consistently
  • Meet customer quality, deliver special request requirements
  • Oversee warehouse activities including kitting, shipping, inventory management
  • Maintain proper employment levels through selecting, interviewing, and training of manufacturing employees for current and future staffing needs

 Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, Manufacturing Management or a related discipline
  • Master’s Degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Equivalent work experience in a similar environment 
  • 10+ year’s previous manufacturing experience at the supervisory/ management level
  • Experience in Fiber Optic/Copper Cable Manufacturing is preferred
  • Ability to manage department budget and review financial statements
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Able to motivate, influence, and train/develop people
  • Able to interact with all professionals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer skills: Microsoft Office Applications
  • Excellent Time management and setting priorities skills
  • Demonstrated application of lean in a manufacturing environment
  • Six Sigma (Black Belt or Green Belt)
