Operations Manager - Electrical Component Manufacturer PEARLAND, TX

Position Goal -

  • Establish a world-class supply chain for a nascent research and development company
  • Grow with the company, continuing to manager the whole supply chain process as the company expands

Direct Responsibilities - 

  • Supervise the operations of manufacturing personnel to ensure a manufacturing process is within budget and time schedule
  • Design and implement plans for the effective use of material and labor resources to achieve manufacturing target
  • Owns all facilities related issues, including maintenance, repairs, expansion, etc..
  • Oversee the hiring, orienting, and training of technical production employees to ensure a competent workforce
  • Owns all production and product-related quality issues. Follows up with non-conforming incoming issues as well as products returned by customers
  • Conduct studies and research to discover a more effective approach to production
  • Oversee the regulation of work shift to ensure proper work load distribution
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, and reduce  waste
  • Monitor manufacturing team to ensure operations are in compliance with health and safety standards
  • Schedule the maintenance of production equipment and machines to ensure efficient operations
  • Analyze and provide solutions to manufacturing challenges or problems
  • Conduct assessments to identify mechanical and procedural limitations that minimize work efficiency
  • Monitor and control production process to adjust operations in event of a problem
  • Collaborate with marketing and seals staff to implement strategies that'll improve the marketability of manufactured products
  • Oversee the procurement of raw materials and equipment required for manufacturing
  • Review personnel performance to determine individuals most suited for promotion.
  • Together with the engineering staff, source all capital equipment, negotiating the best possible price for each item. Produce CAPEX form and gather all requisite signatures for approval. 
  • Develop and document all SOPs and processes related to Supply Chain in the Houston Facilities. Continued improvement programs as expected as part of this aspect of the position ongoing. 
  • Ensure, through capacity planning, that the organizational and capital requirements are in place for expansion of production and product lines. 
  • Responsible for physical installation and maintenance of all equipment and fixtures. This includes contracting third parties to provide quotes and perform services. 
  • Ensure that the warehouse is organized and safe. Design or implement plant warehousing strategies for production material or finished products. Ensure that inventory is accurately stored and accounts for. 
  • Manage the coordination of engineering changes, product line extension, or new product launches to ensure orderly and timely transition in material or production flow. 
  • Work with engineers and third party vendors to acquire sufficient data to decide if it is more economical to purchase or produce products. 

Oversight Responsibilities -

  • Sourcing: Sourcing parts for new and existing products. Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers. Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality. 
  • Production Planning: Manage the production planning and execution of all production activities for all products in the portfolio.
  • Purchasing: Place, track, and close all purchase orders for purchase of components.
  • Cost Reduction: Continually search to leverage ongoing spend and find new vendors in a effort to reduce costs year of year. 
  • Forecasting: Create and maintain forecast for finished goods and components. Report on inventory accuracy monthly.
  • Incoming Receipt of Goods: Develop a system to track and account for incoming inventory. 
  • Work Order Creation: Create and provide work orders to production supervisor.
