Job Description

The Operator 2 role is to maintain and operate the equipment in a way that the line continuously produces quality products and can run at the production run rates to achieve peak performance on the line. The Operator 2 is a top performer and delivers successful team results by maintaining the equipment in their area to eliminate downtime, produce quality products and perform at the maximum level of contribution. Operator II possess the skills and ability to run at least three production equipment work centers in a safe and effective manner.  This Operator 2 profile is specific to the Cook position.

Major Role & Responsibilities (MR’s) and Output and Measurement

  • Leadership of the entire kettle and sauce preparation team
  • Operation of the food manufacturing equipment and troubleshooting
  • Strong verbal communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Hands on leadership for developing and training a support team
  • Sample collection for quality assurance testing
  • Maintain excellent record keeping and follow recipes to exact QC specifications
  • Ensure general cleanliness of kettle sauce preparation area and instrumentation.
  • Maintain work area in a clean and neat fashion and endure all PPE and safety devises are in proper working order at all times.
  • Observe and report any concerns or defects that may affect product safety or quality.
  • Perform minor adjustments and setting changes to minimize downtime and line interruptions.
  • Be trained in at least two of the following work centers. Solbern, ZB Filler, Depaletizer, Elmar Filler, Capper, Vinegar station, Tray packer or the Dicoma.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance activities.
  • Operate the equipment and eliminate all unplanned downtime as part of the equipment operation.


  • Attention to detail, ability to follow recipe formulas with accurate, precise and reproducible results
  • Flexibility in shift schedules
  • Understanding of basic math for volume and ingredient principals
  • Ability to operate three, 500 gallon kettles, transfer pumps, sauté machine and bowl chopper
  • Understanding of cooking pasta sauce process and packaging processes.
  • Ability to operate in a team environment and ability to multitask for extended periods of time
  • Desire and initiative to act promptly and be proactive to correct and/or mitigate errors before they occur
  • Ability to speak and write in English 
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
