We have several exciting opportunities for Optical Technicians with our client in Baltimore, MD. This is a great opportunity to work with a dynamic company in the Eye Care industry.

This is a temp-to-hire position.

The Optical Technician will perform a variety of tasks related to daily Lab operations, surface process, or finishing process according to department production guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Select lenses/frames for each Rx
  • Stock lens and/or frame shelves
  • Sort and deliver trays Key Rx parameters into LMS
  • Log, ship, receive orders (frames, supplies, etc)
  • Operate frame tracing unit
  • Quality check filled Rxs Packaging and/or de-boxing lenses
  • Prepare lenses for AR coating
  • Operate generators
  • Initial lens inspection for cosmetic defects Blocking including prep and taping
  • Wash up/de-blocking of lenses
  • Operate surfacing equipment
  • Operate tool cutter
  • Perform pin beveling (surface) Edger Operation Edger calibration Pin beveling operation (Finish) Hand stone operation including sizing and rolls

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of one year experience in a production/manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to meet department standards for productivity and quality
  • Ability to read and write at a level necessary to accomplish the above tasks
  • Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to recognize and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to perform physical activities requiring bending, kneeling and pulling/pushing
  • Ability to understand and follow procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to walk or stand up to 100% of the time
