We are looking for candidates who possess a high level of dexterity, enthusiasm, and strong organizational skills to work in one of our labs in Lockbourne as an Optical Technician.

Shift and Payrate

3rd Shift – Thursday-Saturday  6:00am – 6:00pm - $14.00

General Summary

Under supervision, perform a variety of tasks related to daily Lab operations, surface process or finishing process according to department production guidelines.

Essential Functions

Perform department tasks including one or more of the following:

  • Select lenses/frames for each Rx / Quality check filled Rx’s
  • Stock lens and/or frame shelves
  • Packaging and/or de-boxing lenses / Sort and deliver trays
  • Log, ship, receive orders (frames, supplies, etc)
  • Operate frame tracing unit
  • Prepare lenses for AR coating
  • Operate Generators
  • Blocking including prep and taping
  • Wash up/de-blocking of lenses
  • Operate surfacing equipment / Operate tool cutter
  • Edger Operation
  • Pin beveling operation (Finish) / Hand stone operation including sizing and rolls
  • Roll and polish / Tinting
  • Mounting of frames including Zyl, and metal
  • Faceting and edge polishing / Manual edge polishing
  • Finish blocking

Additional Responsibilities

  • Maintain unit standards, processes and procedures to ensure efficient, accurate and measurable results.
  • Maintain awareness of all unit criteria, i.e., production standards, procedures, etc., and maintain company safety standards.
  • Assist in efficiently moving work through the department by cooperating with other departments.

Hiring Requirements

  • Minimum one-year experience in a production/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to, and have experience with working in a fast-paced environment
  • Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • Ability to perform physical activities requiring bending, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and being on your feet from 8 – 10 hours
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs
  • Must pass a pre-employment background screening and drug test
