Job Description

Volt has an opening for an Optics Fabrication Technician for a client in Santa Clara, CA to work under general direction, from manufacturing process plans, and specifications to perform a wide variety of optical manufacturing processes for the manufacture of optical components. You will verify the accuracy of finished products with optical and mechanical metrology and support processes and product development through collaboration with Engineering Department.

Description:

  • Processes may include:
    • Optical CNC polishing
    • Grinding
    • Optical and mechanical metrology
    • Optical handling/cleaning
  • Verify the accuracy of finished product with optical and mechanical metrology
  • Support processes and product development through collaboration with Engineering Department

Requirements:

  • Polish precision optics on CNC and MRF based machines.
  • Fabricate optics using conventional blocking fabrication processes.
  • Inspect and prepare optical components for use in final product assembly.
  • Operate Fizeau Interferometers (Zygo, Veeco, 4D, etc.), autocollimators, or CMM equipment.
  • Perform production work using up-to-date production procedures and drawings.
  • Effectively communicate with both verbal and written word to team members.  
  • Proficiently read and understand English to understand work instructions and company communications.
  • Work closely with Engineering and R&D to develop new optical fabrication processes and techniques
  • Practically apply fundamental optical principles.
  • Using Word and Excel as needed to track and store required production / inspection data.
  • Using the Oracle ERP system track and control work orders and parts.
  • Ensure work area is kept clean and order
