Volt is seeking an experienced Payroll & Financial Services Assistant for a DIRECT HIRE OPPORTUNITY in the Quad City area. Great pay and benefits that start day one!

Job Description:

The Payroll and Financial Services Assistant is responsible for the preparation and processing of hourly production payrolls and select salaried payrolls within OUR CLIENT’s operations in the Americas.

  • Retrieve, evaluate and process all hourly payroll data in a timely manner. Manipulate and organize pay data to generate individual pay, corporate tax deductions, company reports, government reports, and individual reports;
  • Checks and confirms maintenance of employee master file information, including hourly pay rates, tax withholding, banking information, 401K plan benefits and loan accounts, flex spending account detail, optional life insurance, medical coverage, garnishments, and misc. payroll deductions; data and detail from this function is created by the incumbent and entered into the formal OUR CLIENT general ledger;
  • Organize and generate bi-weekly bonus plan payments for various payrolls; principal in this responsibility is the supplementary analysis and critical analysis of amounts and detail, ensuring participant eligibility and accuracy of data;
  • Investigate inaccuracies in pay, bonus, and financial statement detail; source inaccuracies, document observations, and self-generate remedial action to problems
  • Routinely supports Accounts Payable, and Raw Materials & Inventory positions within the Finance Department. This includes routine and non-routine support to Accounts Payable processing within the Traffic, Freight, and consumption commodities areas;
  • As directed by the Operations Controller, work with Assistant Raw Materials and Inventories to resolve inventory reconciliation issues, by identifying problem areas and recommending remedial action;
  • Generate month-end cost accounting information, prepare general ledger journal entry detail, and team together with Finance department personnel to review cost data and evaluate financial results. Ad hoc analysis and reporting may be assigned
  • Relieves Receptionist for breaks periodically *

Education and Experience


  • Associates degree in Accounting
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing software
  • Strong organizational and self-motivational traits
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in administration, Finance or Accounting
  • Previous payroll and accounts payable processing experience
  • Ceridian DayForce experience would be a definite asset
