Job Description

Position: Photolithography Process Development Engineer

Status: Direct hire

Location: Addison, Texas

We are seeking an experienced Photolithography Process Development Engineer. This engineer must have experience with designing and developing photolithographic processes for MEMS or semiconductor devices for various applications. This individual-contributor position supports various MEMS sensor and device programs. Individual will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing photolithography processes used to create various MEMS devices. Will also be responsible for: process improvements, process validation, supporting process integration and program managers, equipment development and maintenance support. Will contribute to preparation of reports, briefings, and proposals for internal and external customers.


  • Develop, maintain, and optimize resist coating, exposure, development, and treatment processes used to manufacture unique MEMS devices
  • Manages reticles within the fab and supports CAD layout and reticle ordering for various devices
  • Work hands on in a MEMS fab environment
  • Understand process requirements and devise and implement process and equipment solutions to meet those requirements
  • Develop and execute process window design of experiments to ensure manufacturability
  • Generate and update process specifications and requirements, including process flows and processing information, through the ECN process
  • Create and implement quality systems including: SPC charts, periodic equipment and product-based measurements, equipment and process specifications and inspection guidelines
  • Provide training to engineering technicians and production personnel


  • B.S./M.S. in Chemistry, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or Materials Science
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant industry
  • Hands-on experience with contact masks aligner tools such as Karl Suss, EVG and OAI
  • Experience with frontside to backside alignment processing
  • Familiarity with photolithography processing using steppers such as Canon, ASML and Nikon
  • Knowledge of mask layout using CAD software
  • Experience/knowledge of Design of Experiments, experimental methodologies, reporting and proper documentation of experimental test plans and conclusions
  • Knowledge of characterization techniques for various processes used to fabricate MEMS and semiconductor devices
  • Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) concepts and practices
  • Statistical data analysis and experimental design using tools such as JMP, MATLAB, or Minitab
  • Background working in a volume semiconductor or MEMS fabrication facility
  • Experience with spin coating and patterning of photoimagable polymers and other nontraditional resists preferred
  • Familiarity with design rules and ordering of photomasks preferred
  • Experience working on MEMS or biomedical devices preferred
