Job Description

Volt is seeking a Principal Systems Engineer with experience in Radar System engineering and design test setup for special test events to include working with the FAA on frequency approval, frequency planning for location, and interoperability with partner systems.  Will be required to perform problem solving, and troubleshoot electrical, mechanical and software system issues to quickly resolve issues as they arise.

Duties will include but not limited to 

  • Provide hands-on support for various I&T and field activities in coordination of cross-functional (electrical, mechanical, software) troubleshooting efforts, system integration of new capabilities, and field tests.
  • Communicate clearly and recommend solutions to team to resolve a wide range of technical issues timely and successfully.
  • Some Travel to US Government field test sites will be required.

Required Skills:

  • 8+ years of Radar System engineering experience with software and hardware using power systems, electrical components, and software and hardware interface design and verification.
  • Experiences with both sides of the Systems Engineering V including requirements development, allocation, design implementation, test planning and requirements verification.
  • Experience with software integration and test for radar modes and waveforms.
  • Willing to travel to Government testing locations three to four times per year.
  • Proven experience with leading teams, influencing, communicating difficult technical information to leaders or customers, and building team relationships, and communicate with senior technical leadership.
  • Experience with test equipment, test software, troubleshooting and problem solving.
  • DoD Clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Antenna (AESA) technology.
  • Experience with testing Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) with a focus on RF Electromagnetic Interference testing.
  • Experience with Integration & Test of RF systems transmit/ receive chain, radar processing including hardware/software, and built in test..
  • Experience with cost account management, earned value management, integrated master plans and integrated master schedule development.
  • Excellent presentation skills, meet schedule milestones, and able to build a collaborative team and work in a matrix environment.
  • Able to work in a physically demanding environment, and work outdoors in various weather and terrain.
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline.

Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, Science or related discipline.

Security Clearance:

Applicants selected must have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
