Manufacturing Process Engineer (direct-hire) Minneapolis, MN

Volt has partnered with a growing manufacturing company in search of a Process Engineer! In this role, you will be responsible for designing an optimal production process for machined components and assemblies per customer specifications and purchase order requirements. The processes include both primary and secondary operations.


  • Research new industry methodologies to assure the latest process technology is being applied to the machining of components for both medical device and aerospace and defense markets.
  • Create detailed engineering methods in Epicor ERP system with estimated process times.
  • Prepare and/or review engineering change requests; develop and oversee preparation and implementation of all engineering change notices and document change control.
  • Work toward becoming proficient with several different machining platforms.
  • Practice effective project management skills including scheduling and conducting meetings with published minutes and action plans.
  • Participate in new part kickoff meetings and design for manufacturability sessions to identify opportunities to reduce part costs and improve manufacturing efficiencies.
  • Perform mechanical design tasks in CAD as needed for work holding, special tooling and assembly processes.
  • Identify all special tooling required and assure tooling ordered in time to support part fabrication.
  • Assist with the creation of CNC programs and the setup of machines on new parts
  • Monitor running of machine until the 1st acceptable part is complete.
  • Create product and process specifications and other internal documents.
  • Assist in maintaining accurate production standards and revise methods as necessary for process improvement.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or Manufacturing Engineering.  Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in related capacity.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to express concepts effectively, both written and verbal.
  • Strong machining process technical experience.
  • Strong ability to read blueprints and experience with GD&T.
  • 3D CAD Skills with Solidworks preferred.

Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident, due to contractual requirements.
