As a Process Technician on the Plastics team, you will be tasked with performing root cause analysis and applying corrective action on injection molding processes related to parts quality.  Other tasks may include mold changes, maintenance, and light mechanical or electromechanical work to produce quality saleable product to our customers.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and improve injection molding processes.
  • Improve time to first good part (changeover) and yield across all machines on factory floor.
  • Work from prints, drawings, method sheets, diagrams or other specifications in accordance with established assembly procedures. Employ lean processes and standard work.
  • Set up, operate, and/or maintain production equipment, machines and tools using process documents, diagrams, and written instructions in support of production goals. Produce set-ups and process adjustment which meet engineering drawing specifications.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data from production processes requiring basic mathematical and statistical knowledge. Hypothesize solutions to problems and create tests to validate/discount hypothesis.
  • Expected to participate in continuous improvement and Lean processes (kaizen).
  • Work cooperatively with engineers on specific tasks/projects as needed.

Working Conditions and Basic Requirements:

  • Position may require occasional heavy lifting (< 50 lbs) or movement of objects up to 40 lbs. 
  • May involve exposure to chemicals, solvents and solder smoke.
  • Safety glasses and other PPE may be required. 
  • Repetitive use of upper extremities. 
  • Must be able to match up colors and be able to assemble small pieces, required due to frequent close work. 
  • Must be able to read, speak and understand English to understand oral or written safety information, supervisory direction, and other instructions.
  • Must be able to read and interpret engineering/technical drawings, understand GD&T, and experience with measurement and inspection methods.    

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of injection molding experience
  • Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedure to complete assigned tasks
  • Normally follows established procedures on routine work
  • Requires instructions only on new assignments
  • Works on assignments that are semi routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice
  • High school diploma or GED
