Job Description

The Process Technologist is responsible for supporting the successful launch of new and improved products, and ensuring they are technically sound and fully documented.  Responsible for driving costs out of the system using lean manufacturing principles and value chain initiatives.


  • Supports the Process section of Projects, determining resource requirements, including new equipment.
  • Leads process meetings and agendas in the absence of the Sr. Process Technologist and Process Manager.
  • Manages all aspects of the critical path post-handover to ensure that projects are delivered on time.
  • Liaises with the Operational Teams (Production, Technical and Engineering) on all issues relating to product launches including the setting and managing of factory trials.
  • Plans out required trials, including preparation of all components, in order to ensure that Product Quality; Product Safety and Legality are assured.
  • Evaluates product trial data and samples – determining ‘next steps’ as appropriate.
  • Ensures that throughout the process development process, products maintain commercial aspirations, communicating any costing amendments to Finance / Commercial
  • Ensures that appropriate Food Safety Risk Assessments including Raw Material and Process are undertaken and that all CCP processes are effectively validated, in a documented manner.
  • Ensures that the launch process is fully planned, documented and communicated effectively within the business and to our customer.
  • Coordinates and lead the meeting of the post launch evaluation in conjunction with NPD and Operations to ensure the process established at launch is still valid for full scale production and making improvements as necessary
  • Works closely with suppliers and procurement team to agree quality parameters of raw materials
  • Trial new packaging options, ensuring there are established and suitable manufacturing processes
  • Supports the Operation Team in trouble-shooting within factory and as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all new products meet technical criteria of all customers.
  • Plays a major role in site continuous improvement process, challenging ingredients & suppliers where necessary.
  • Responsible for evaluation of new / upgraded raw materials
  • Responsible for evaluation of products / ingredients where value chain initiatives &/or ingredient/supplier changes are concerned
  • Sourcing & trialing new equipment (in conjunction with engineering/ operations dept.)

The Ideal Candidate

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Food Science or Culinary Arts with
  • 2-3 years of experience in the fresh food industry or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be an effective communicator verbal and written.
  • Must have Food Manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime.
  • Must have experience in Plant Trails for new products.
