Job Description

Volt is looking for a Product Development Engineer for our client in Irvine, CA. Our client background is in Medical Device industry. This is a direct hire opportunity.

Job Duties:

  • Be integral in the development, scaling, implementation, and execution of new processes, technologies, and products.
  • Contribute to new product development projects to maximize speed to market, completeness, and accuracy.
  • Collaborates with Production to scale-up and transfer new products to Manufacturing and Sales.
  • Broad understanding of the entire ceramic production process to design, develop, and support a finished product that meets sales and customer requirements.
  • Uses critical thinking, DOE & statistical tools to assist in identifying and resolving root causes of complex problems; and recommend logical, quick, and effective solutions to identified issues. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to “think on one’s feet” and make logical and timely decisions to important problems while under pressure
  • Partners with appropriate Stakeholders and teams regarding trouble-shooting activities and process improvement projects.
  • Partners closely with Product Managers to develop product specifications and set project scope/requirements/timelines.
  • Collaborate and partner with company-wide stakeholders in research, marketing, production, and RA/QA to ensure complete and efficient completions of major projects.
  • Demonstrates and maintains a strong hands-on experience and knowledge of materials processing especially ceramic powder processing, material testing and characterization
  • Develops and performs methods of testing integrity and reliability of formulations.

Job Requirements:

  • Must have 2-5 years of industry experience with product development.
  • Experience with coordination and project management activities with a diverse group of stakeholders in the business is required
  • Proficient in technical writing is required
  • Past work experience working in an R&D setting preferred
  • Must have experience working in a ISO/FDA regulated industry
  • Experience with Class II or III Medical Device manufacturing & design control strongly preferred.
  • BS in an engineering or science field required, MS preferred.
  • Past work experience in ceramics / powder processing (esp. alumina, zirconia, ceramic oxides) preferred
