Job Description

Volt is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Product Development Engineer/Technical Project Manager. The location for this position is Williamsburg, VA reporting to the Product Development Manager.

Job Description Summary

  • Coordinate with customers, product development, sales, marketing, manufacturing, and operations planning to ensure rapid, successful commercialization of new products
  • Work on a variety of teams and be accountable for results.
  • Constructively challenge the current status quo to uncover opportunities that drive; collaboration across functions, accountability and growth.
  • Interface directly with customers in support of sales teams.
  • Coordinate internal initiatives with manufacturing and operations planning.
  • Drive strategic collaboration with vendors and technology partners.
  • Have an internal bias for internal and external customer service.
  • Embrace an environment conducive to innovation and information sharing.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with valued customers and suppliers

Minimum Requirements:

  • Four (4) year degree in Mechanical Engineering, materials science or Chemistry.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with plastics or other materials
  • 5 or more years of experience in the packaging industry is preferred.
  • 5 or more years of experience in product development, particularly in managing complex projects with direct customer interaction, is preferred.

Preferred:

  • Advanced understanding of rigid packaging technologies and processes.
  • Project management skill, perseverance, initiative and an innovative spirit are imperative for success in this role.
