Do you have product development experience with oilfield chemicals?  Do you have a knack for identifying opportunities for new products based on customer needs, industry trends and gaps in current product portfolio?  Are you a planner, proactively looking for the opportunity to make things more efficient?


The Product Development Specialist will be a proactive member of the organizations Technology Center, and plant & sales teams. He/she is responsible for the technical support of current product & manufacturing processes as well as providing support for the development of new products and technologies in Production chemicals and hydraulic fracturing chemicals to achieve company’s strategic goals.

The Product Development Specialist will primarily be responsible for identifying opportunities for new products based on customer needs, industry trends, and gaps in current product portfolio.  The successful candidate will be engaged in all stages of product development, from conception to commercialization.  The candidate is expected to be informed in the current state of the art in the industry by writing SPE papers, patents and industry specific publications.


  • BS degree with 15+ years of Oilfield experience
  • MS degree with 10+ years of Oilfield experience
  • PhD. with 6+ years of Oilfield experience
  • Experience with production chemicals such as corrosion, scale, H2S Scavenging, Paraffin/Asphaltene inhibitors, biocides, and demulsification
  • Experience with Fracturing & Acidizing Chemicals such as, gelling agents, friction reducers, non-emulsifiers, emulsifiers, scale inhibitors, crosslinkers, breakers, acidizing and all products used in the stimulation process
  • Experience with surfactants and the use of within the stimulation process
  • Demonstrated technical hand-on experience in an oilfield field environment
  • Experience with hydraulic fracturing concepts and field operations
  • Knowledge of both completions and production field concepts and operations
  • Demonstrated technical work experience in a chemical laboratory environment
  • Strong bench chemistry skills, including basic analytical testing
  • Experience with standard organic synthesis techniques, separations, distillations and pressure reactions.
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, self-organizer
  • Demonstrated creative problem solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good diagnostic/trouble-shooting skills to support plant manufacturing
  • Expertise in rheology of polymers used in fracturing and acidizing operations
  • Thermal analysis (DSC, DMA, TGA) skills a plus
  • Familiarity with the following testing: GC/LC, specific gravity, viscosity, gel time a plus
  • Ability to interpret data from NMR, GC-MS, FTIR, etc. a plus
  • Basic familiarity with ISO9001, ISO14001 is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as a part of a diverse team
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, in both one-to-one and group discussions
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient using ERP systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
  • Analytical skills that allow interpretation of complex regulatory information
  • Ability to work safely in the laboratory and plant area


  • Carry out hands-on lab bench work on various chemistries
  • Set up and run synthesis experiments
  • Document all testing and results in laboratory notebook
  • Develop and document robust methods that can be scaled up to the manufacturing plant
  • Function as the technical expert for a family of products
  • Assist engineering, production, etc. in scale-up and process hazard review activities
  • Participate in training of operations staff
  • Report to management, sales team and customers on progress of laboratory investigations.
  • Safe operations in compliance with safety standards, including participation in ongoing safety program
