Volt is seeking a Product Engineer to work onsite at our client’s facility in Clayton, NC.  This is a contingent position forecasted for 12 months.  As an engineer working for the Small Track-type Tractor (STTT) design team, you will become intimately familiar with the design of the STTT product, provide support to the STTT assembly line, assist other STTT engineers with projects of various complexity, and complete design/drawing projects.  You will play a very important role in the design, validation, and implementation of new product and features.

Within this role, you will:

  • Concept and design new product and features for the STTT using Creo; projects will primarily be focused in hydraulic lines routing, sheet metal, and welded fabrications
  • Handle drawing releases and associated engineering change notices (ECNs) of STTT tractor components and assemblies
  • Interrogate engineering drawings and 3D models to understand design requirements
  • Assist with prototype and pilot builds (first production run) on the Athens assembly line
  • Design and validate changes and improvements for current product

Required Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical or Agricultural engineering
  • Experience reading engineering drawings
  • Experience designing and releasing production drawings with 3D solid modeling and, experience designing mechanical systems or components using Creo and Vis (or similar)
  • Basic hands-on mechanical aptitude and a strong desire to learn
  • Strong organization, communication, and technical skills
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving capability
  • A good attitude with ability to work in diverse teams
