Job Description

We have outstanding opportunities for Kitters (preparing batches) to work the 2nd or 3rd shifts with a growing national food manufacturer and specialty packaging company in Totowa, NJ. The position offers good opportunities for growth within a vibrant company which manufactures a broad range of portion pack specialty foods and a variety of products for the food service industry.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Individual works in the kitchen (a clean room food processing environment) creating multiple different sauces as needed from raw materials. Must be able to work in clean room environment and communicate verbally and written as needed. This position requires that the candidate is proficient reading and writing in English.  May be required to climb, bend, and twist as needed to perform work and must be able to lift 50 lb. repeatedly throughout the shift.

•           Follow all cGMP and safety procedures within the Kitchen

•           Gathers raw ingredients and weighs out quantities for batch kits to be cooked. Must follow batch sheet to ensure correct inputs

•           Must read and log down lot numbers for raw material into batch ticket

•           Organize pallet per batch for Cooks, so that it can be verified

•           Ensures that batches are made correctly and on time along with all accurate paperwork being completed for each batch to ensure material traceability

•           Requisition material from the warehouse (create material pull sheets)

•           Weigh and label all material prepped for the batch as well as any material going back to the warehouse

•           Make sure all material going back to the warehouse is labeled and sealed properly and conduct raw material inventory counts as required

•           Maintains proper process and controls as determined by quality department. Ensure material consumption follows first in first out method and maintain material usage records for traceability

•           Assist Cooks in creating and blending product from batched formulas and load into Kettles for cooking and transferring

•           Collaborates with other department Leads to maintain/adjust batch schedule as required

•           Works with Quality team to test sample product as needed

•           Ensures product safety through proper following of sanitation procedures and assist Cooks in keeping up with any logs and cleaning detail of kitchen area.

•           Communicate with QC and supervisor all non-conformances with raw material entering the kitchen (i.e. broken bags, expired product, wrong label, etc.)

•           Operates all equipment safely as needed for each process

•           Must be able to handle motorized pallet jack.


Bilingual (English/Spanish), strong organizational abilities, able to multi-task in a fast paced food processing manufacturing environment, food safety experience


•           High school diploma preferred

•           Read and write in English

•           Proficient math skills

•           Mechanical aptitude
