Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is currently recruiting candidates for a long term, challenging opportunity in Lake Mary, FL. This role is with a stable, very employee friendly organization with a national footprint in the Insurance Industry. The Personal Injury Worker's Compensation Claims Adjuster under technical direction, investigates and maintains, property and casualty claims. Works within specific limits of authority on assignments requiring significant technical complexity and coordination. Utilizing claims policies and guidelines, reviews coverages, determines liability and compensability, secures information, arranges property damage appraisals, and negotiates and settles claims.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interprets more complex or unusual policy coverages and determines if coverages apply to claims submitted, escalating issues as needed.
  • Sets reserves and authorizes payment within scope of authority, effectively settling claims in most cost effective manner and ensuring timely issuance of disbursements.
  • Coordinates and performs investigations and evaluates Personal Injury and Worker's Compensation claims and suits through contact with insureds, claimants, witnesses and experts.
  • Utilizes negotiation skills to develop complex settlement packages.
  • Identifies claims with third party recovery potential and coordinates with subrogation/salvage unit.
  • Works with attorneys, account representatives, agents, doctors and insureds regarding the handling and/or disposition of more complex claims.
  • Analyzes claims activities and prepares reports for management.
  • May update the claims systems.
  • May provide guidance and assistance to other claims staff and functional areas.
  • Keeps current on state/territory regulations and issues as well as industry activity and trends.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Solid knowledge of claims and insurance industry theory and practices.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and make critical business decisions effectively.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite as well as other business-related software.

?Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designations preferred.
  • Minimum five years claims experience.
  • At least 5 years Litigation and Coverage Claims for Personal Injury and Worker's Compensation Experience.
