Job Description

Volt is looking for a Project Design Engineer for our client in Oceanside, CA. The Product Design Engineer will be responsible for sustaining engineering, product extensions, design and documentation of existing products including REACH and ROHS material classification for all connector families.


  • Reaceach materials used in connector designs to determine REACH/ROHS compliance.
  • Maintain REACH/ROHS classification database up to date on a continuous basis.
  • Use input from marketing, customers, development engineers, and other personnel to provide robust solutions to our customers, both internal and external.
  • Interact directly with customers to identify key deliverables and establish product specifications to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Apply sound engineering principles, practices, and procedures, and possess a working understanding of common manufacturing processes such as machining, stamping, plating, and molding.
  • Work closely with other Product Engineers and other disciplines such as Manufacturing and Process Engineering.
  • Plan project meetings and coordinate interdepartmental deliverables. 
  • Conduct DFMEA’s and design review meetings.
  • Manage the need for sustaining engineering or assigned products with Tecate sustaining engineering team.


  • BSME from US accredited university with a minimum of 2 years design experience
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory
  • Exposure to military specification (mil-specs 38999) from any capacity - quality, mfg, or design
  • Experience with materials in plating technique
  • Strong knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing as well as mechanical simulation software. 
  • Proficient in Pro-Engineer, stress analysis, CAD simulations, MS Project, MS Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) highly desired.
  • US citizen or perm legal resident required
