Job Description

Our client is currently looking for a Project Manager to manage critical engineering projects for their customers.  This is an exciting opportunity with a growing firm. This is a temp to hire opportunity.

Position Summary:

This position is responsible for managing customer expectations during the project life cycle by effectively planning, executing and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors and consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout the project life cycle.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•       Responsible for supervising various individuals associated with each project.

•       Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress.

•       Read, understand and adhere to specific contract requirements, to ensure company meets all contractual obligations during the project and communicates any special requirements to internal work groups.

•       Develop and track project schedules in MS Project.

•       Develop and track project costs in Ajera.

•       Manage creation of accurate submittals, installation instructions and operating/maintenance manuals for the provided equipment.

•       Manage creation and use of accurate fabrication packages, Bill of Materials (BOM) and logistical information as required.

•       Manage change orders (internally and externally) and professionally coordinate additional customer charges when appropriate.

•       Provide weekly project updates to client and other stakeholders.

•       Report and escalate issues to senior managers as needed.

•       Successfully manage relationships with client and stakeholders.

•       Stays informed of project progress, performs risk analysis and identifies and minimizes potential risks.

•       Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.

•       Perform various engineering calculations and analyses related to process design and equipment selection to comply with contractual obligations.

•       Provide support to assure safe, quality products produced and services rendered at the highest possible standards and at the lowest possible costs.

•       Periodically assist Field Services personnel with equipment startup and troubleshooting activities.

•       Assist in staff training, education and development.

•       Ensures project deadlines are met; resolve scheduling issues and track project progress to ensure timeliness, effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

•       This position is responsible for resolution of all project problems or customer concerns, ensuring a timely and successful project completion.

•       Operates under minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent action.

•       Serves as pre-sales consultant to ensure appropriate expectations are communicated to the customer.

•       Informs appropriate internal personnel of any problems or concerns expressed by customers.

•       Provides project management expertise and customer account representation as the project progresses.

•       May participate in assessing new staff.

•       Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills and abilities)

•       Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or similar related degree).

•       5-7 years progressive experience in engineering project management.

•       Proficient in MS Office. (Solidworks or AutoCAD experience beneficial)

•       Strong fundamental knowledge of mechanical design and its application in automation industrial designs including specification

•       Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently or in team environment.

•       Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.

•       Excellent writing, editing, communication and interpersonal skills required.

•       Possess excellent organizational and time management skills

•       Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously

•       Able to give and follow complex directions

•       Possess strong interpersonal skills

•       Able to work independently with minimal supervision

•       Able to work effectively with co-workers, subordinates and supervisors and customers.

Certification, Licenses,

•       Project Management certification a plus

Work Environment

•       Job will generally be performed in an office environment, but also will require travel to Client’s office, production facility or industrial/construction job site. Conditions will vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.

•       Position is administered in an extremely fluid, fast paced fashion with multiple high-priority demands

Physical Demands

•       Frequent travel (40%)

•       Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

•       While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

•       The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20-30 pounds.
