Job Description

Project Manager, Research & Development

This is an estimated 3.5 month temporary position, in Bothell, WA and is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions. We are among the largest staffing companies in the US for contingent/temporary and direct hire placements, and support many of the top rated Pacific Northwest companies.

The Project Manager will lead project teams, utilizing Product Development Protocol (PDP), and other established processes to successfully maintain and improve commercialized products. Essential function includes maintaining the Design History File (DHF) and all documentation to assure compliance.

The Project Manager will function as the single point of contact for all involved organizational stakeholders by providing leadership to create a seamless communications stream during sustaining and re-commercialization phases. He or she will be responsible for budgeting and spend, allocation and assignments of resources, and oversight of activities for engineers and other cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Function as a core team member and leader within R&D
  • Manage project scope, and coordinate proposals and expense controls as well as justifications for capital, development prototyping, and verification and validation needs.
  • Ensure sufficient resources are identified and allocated to the sustaining programs from both a company and customer perspective.
  • Collaborate with internal management team to define objectives, budgets, determine timelines, and establish milestones to measure progress.
  • Participate in business development issues such as supply agreements, long-term agreements, cost reduction requests, cost sharing requests, pricing negotiations, account reviews, etc.
  • Monitor, control, and communicate overall project costs, timing, and deliverables.
  • Ensure sufficient resources are identified and allocated to the project.

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee the execution of deliverables of an engineering team
  • Set and communicate performance expectations and hold team members accountable for achieving expectations and completing assignments
  • Drive individuals and the team to continuously improve in key metrics and the achievement of the project goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 4 year degree in business, engineering, or technical field of study
  • 3+ years of technical product development experience using a PDP process
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interface, negotiate, and influence multi-disciplinary teams with different levels of personnel.
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
