Job Description:

In Space Vehicle Engineering is looking for a highly motivated, senior career experienced, propulsion subsystems
engineer. The candidate will be supporting Satellite Vehicle Engineering organization and multiple satellite product lines
at the Satellite Development Center, based in Los Angeles.

In Space Vehicles Propulsion Accountabilities:
- Drive timely closure of technical issues and anomalies to meet program requirements.
- Ensure product line designs comply with program requirements.
- Ensure propulsion design, manufacturing and test processes are constructed to produce first time quality of builds.
- Mentors engineering staff.
- Support, establish and improve technical standards and processes.
- Chair key design reviews and lead critical RC/CA investigation teams.
- Establish qualification, acceptance test methodologies for Propulsion.
- Evaluate and champion new technology and methods. Also, includes management of technical requirements for IRAD.
- Convene and chair Independent Review Teams (IRT’s).
- Ensure integrated execution of propulsion platform
- Effectively lead the performance of the Propulsion Tier II Operations IPT to ensure technical, cost, schedule and risks are
managed to meet or exceed the EAC cost commitments discounting approved scope related changes.
- Create an execution battle rhythm across all Propulsion Tier III IPTs that are efficiently integrated with the Platform IPT
and PMO performance objectives, as well as the TC Functional Operations, that results in the Tier III IPT meeting all
program critical schedule milestones (gates, hardware deliveries, billing milestones, key cost/schedule driving tasks).
- Provide engaging leadership and mentoring to Propulsion Tier III IPTs that fosters a culture of timely communication of
potential issues and help needed by Level II and Level III IPTs to the Platform IPT Leader, Program Management and
Engineering Capabilities Management to quickly resolve issues and threats to performance.
- Manage WIP, traveled work, open paper and adherence to checklist processes across the IPT consistent with enterprise
objectives, as well as Engineering Capabilities and Program expectations to avoid undue delays, rework and late risk
mitigation (EPAR aging < 30days avg, CCAs, SDT, Action Items, etc.).
- Career experience, education, and technical knowledge related to space-based propulsion systems is required.
- Skills with propulsion analysis/design tools, flow modeling plus experience with propulsion subcomponents (valves,
regulators, etc.) required.
- Commitment to translating tribal knowledge to documented processes/procedures and standards required.


Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of engineering propulsion experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Space based propulsion experience.
- Electrical propulsion experience.
- Supplier management oversight experience.
- Integrated Product Team (IPT) experience.

Education / Experience:  Bachelor's degree with 14 or more years' experience, Master's degreee with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
