This position will be responsible for the company’s global purchasing policy, purchasing procedures, employee training/communications, reporting and systems which relate to requisitions, purchase orders and supplier information.  This position will manage a purchasing department and will perform various purchasing duties within the purchasing department such as the following: draft supplier contracts/ agreements/purchase orders, approve purchase requisitions, resolve purchasing and supplier related issues, maintain system information, and provide purchasing support to all functional departments. This position should have broad knowledge of the corporate policies and practices and has access to confidential information.

In this position you will be responsible for company’s global travel policy, procedures, employee training/communications, reporting/analysis and systems which relate to travel (Concur, Changepoint and EE).  The position will maintain the company’s relationship with its outside travel agency in North America, negotiate contracts related to travel (Concur, United air, American Express), manage company’s pcards and American Express company credit card program. 

The person responsible for purchasing and travel should have a proactive, positive, can-do attitude and possess strong leadership, organization, communication, collaboration, problem solving and teamwork skills. The position will be expected to exercise independent judgement, perform analysis and problem solve in a positive and constructive manner in addition to having an efficient operations mindset. Contracts may be of a sensitive, complex and sometimes confidential nature both within and outside of company.

DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Qualify & evaluate suppliers, negotiate supplier terms and pricing in conjunction with company’s Legal and functional departments.  Set up Suppliers and process requisitions/POs for goods and services.  Resolve purchasing issues which arise.

Maintain relationship with travel agency, negotiate travel related contracts.  Resolve travel issues which arise.

Administer the contracts management tracking (CMT) system db.

Complete employee Corporate Credit Card and Purchasing Card (PCard) administration. Includes: Processing applications, updating information, canceling cards, monitoring delinquent accounts, completing the PCard reconciliation.

Maintain systems such as supplier set up, open requisitions/purchase orders, Concur.  Identify enhancements when appropriate and then design, develop and implement.

Utilize reporting to complete analytics/analysis to monitor purchasing and travel: Purchase Orders, Purchasing Metrics & Aging, Travel reporting

Supervise associate buyer(s) and T&E administrator including training, setting goals and objectives, and monitoring progress.  

Update, communicate and train the following areas: global purchasing policy, global purchasing procedures, global travel policy, and T&E procedures.  Maintain accuracy of inside company, develop webinars, consistently communicate to organization

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

The minimum education, training and/or experience required to perform this job.

  • Education/Licenses: BA or equivalent in work experience
  • Experience:  Minimum 10 years in a corporate purchasing environment.  Its preferred the person has overall purchase to pay experience including accounts payable and T&E processing.
  • Computer skills:    Strong MS Office skills; working knowledge of Concur
  • Other knowledge or skills: Competent negotiation skills; business background
