Job Description

Volt is looking for a Purchasing Manager for our client at the Orange City, IA location. Our client is an Aerospace and Defense company with great growth potential.

General Position Summary:

Position is responsible for coordinating, directing, and managing the responsibilities of all buyers. 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Coordinates, directs, and manages the responsibilities of all Buyers. Performs the common administrative functions of an individual in a management position. Endeavors to maintain good employee morale, enthusiasm, and cooperation.

May handle specific purchasing responsibilities including Low Cost Region Procurement and negotiations of major vendor agreements.

Evaluate potential new vendors and their ability to supply materials.

Meets with Vice President of Operations to develop company objectives and requirements as they pertain to the overall material functions of the company. 

Devises methods, policies, and procedures to ensure materials objectives are attained.

Analyzes and evaluates inventory levels and movement; provides recommendations to Vice President of Operations.

Participates in various management meetings associated with production requirements, engineering related product changes or additions, systems changes, and other related meetings pertaining to the manufacturing process.

Responsible for directing the Goal Deployment responsibilities associated with all Purchasing and inventory goals and objectives

Learn requirements of the customers, understand customer expectations of inventory management and their basic process/needs in order to ensure minimal delays in supply.

Monitors quality reports, and ensures suppliers are meeting company quality standards.

Monitor and audit performance and recommend improvements.

May monitor or participate in capital purchases.

Responsible for knowing and complying with company policies and procedures. Keeps the Vice President of Operations informed of all significant problems, progress, or difficulties.

Responsible for following all policies and procedures pertaining to client’s Quality System.
