Job Description

VOLT Workforce Solutions is looking for an energetic and enthusiastic QA Laboratory Technician with experience in the dairy/food industry.  You will be tasked with improving and maintaining test data, completing measurements, and communicating results and status during and after product release.  You will be responsible for ensuring product specifications are met and enforcing company SOPs and policies on the production floor.  As a key member of the Quality Assurance team, you report directly to the QA Manager.  The QA Lab Tech should be able to follow instructions, work with others, and help ensure that all safety regulations are followed.

  • Operate clean equipment including spectrometer, infrared milk analyzer, Monjonnier tester, ph meter, near-infrared analyzer, and various other testing equipments.
  • Liaise with production departments to ensure projects are started, executed, and finished according to federal regulations.
  • Manage point step process review, label and materials review, and QA approval of documentation control, line clearing, and process deviations.
  • Ensure all staff within the facility follow cGMP requirements.
  • Create manual test cases, test data, and test scripts based on project objectives.
  • Perform manual and automated testing, analyzing, and recording related results.
  • Recognize and notify Q.A. foreperson / appropriate supervisors of any unusual results or product defects.  Perform the necessary rechecks for analytical and microbiological tests.
  • Aid in training of new laboratory personnel.
  • Hold a technician and Mojonnier certificate by the State of California. Responsible for the performance of the following tests: Inhibitor test (Delvo, Charm Rosa reader and Charm II)
  • Review end-user notes for accuracy of implemented operations descriptions.
  • Document defects with conciseness, accuracy, and details to ensure defects are not reproduced.
  • Provide requested status and results throughout the facility.
  • Obtain proper series samples required.
  • Proper identification of outgoing samples for third party testing.
  • Complete daily, weekly and monthly Master Sanitation items.


  • Must have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Dairy Science, Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry or related field or comparable experience in dairy laboratory testing in five (5) out of the last ten (10) years.
  • College level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leadership, team development, coaching, and/or teaching experience.
  • Advanced computational skills required. Advanced math reasoning required.
  • Must be able to operate the equipment effectively after the appropriate break-in period.
