Job Description



Volt is hiring a team of Game Testers for our client, a leader in the gaming industry, to perform Quality Assurance testing at their office in Austin, TX. This is a long-term temporary position expected to last between 8-12 months with the possibility of extension.

Role Summary

A test professional who leverages a basic understanding of the fundamental test process to execute tasks that are provided to them. Utilizes defined test strategies or adapts them to new small-scale projects that they take ownership of. Responsible for identifying and communicating defects, risks, and feedback as they are identified, while providing ideas as to possible solutions.

Scope

Emphasis on manual test execution. Begins to develop an understanding of test planning and test closure processes. Applies department policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.

Responsibilities

  • Execute provided testing tasks with an emphasis on manual test execution, test library maintenance, and test closure activities
  • Be a creative thinker who can test for ‘edge cases’ outside of expected functionality
  • Responsible for working within project management (i.e. JIRA) and test related tools (i.e. TestRail)
  • Advocate of the user experience through delivery of qualitative reporting
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Understanding of basic test execution principles
  • Analyze and interpret data/workflows, recognize critical issues, and raise concerns
  • Understand various Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including accurate and timely reporting
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Passion for games and software quality

Preferred/Optional Qualifications:

  • Gray box and white box testing experience
  • Familiar with: XML/HTML, JavaScript, Python, Java, C/C++/C#, SQL
  • CTFL, ISTQB®  or equivalent
  • High-level of gaming knowledge and/or skill

Pay:$12/hour
