Job Description

Quality Assurance Inspector

Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager

FLSA Status: Non - Exempt

Location: Westchester, CA

Summary: Assures work in-process, final and finished goods are in compliance with established

specifications, SOPs, FDA and cGMP regulations by performing line clearance, in-process and final

product inspections. Conducts smell analysis, visual, functional and dimensional inspections. If an item is

found to be non-conforming, performs item containment, conducts investigation and reports results.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Please note that the following description is not meant to be an

exhaustive list of responsibilities and metrics but to highlight some key ones).

• Inspect, test and sample in-process, final and finished goods according to approved

specifications following established work practices, SOPs, FDA and cGMP regulations. Conducts

smell analysis, visual inspections, measurements and functional tests to determine product

conformance. Generate QA Reports/Records summarizing inspection and test results

• Detect problems and notify appropriate personnel of item non-conformance. Perform product

containment on suspect ware. Properly tags all non-conforming and suspect material and/or

parts. Assist with the investigation of line failures. Audit product after sort/rework and report final

results

• Maintains documentation (drawings, procedures, forms, reports, etc.) utilized for inspection and

assures that they are current, accurate and complete. Complete and maintain all QA

documentation in accordance with established procedures and work practices. Closes out OTC

Orders

• Create new masters and maintain retains. Analyzed QA data and provide summarization

• Participate in QA Department cross-training program, including but not limited to Receiving

Inspection and Document Control

• Deliver samples and support line trials and product validations as needed

• Assist other Departments, i.e. Analytical Lab, Production, Warehouse, etc. with non-conformance

investigation, document review, inventory, etc.

• General housekeeping of work areas, including retain room and records storage room

• Occasionally may be required to lift up to 40 pounds

• Any other tasks that may be assigned from time to time to meet company goals

Education/Experience:

High school diploma. One or more years of manufacturing experience preferably in cosmetics, foods

and/or medical devices.

Language Ability:

Must speak/read/write in English as primary language of business. Ability to read and interpret

documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common

fractions, and decimals.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have good technical skills, proficient in the use of

MS Office (Word, Excel) and general computer skills.
