Job Description

Volt is seeking a Quality Assurance clerk to work in San Luis Obispo, CA. This is a temporary, full time position that will fill fast!

The selected candidate will manage quality control sample and testing coordination. They will be responsible for test creation, scheduling, data entry, reconciliation and ensure that all samples are distributed correctly and that they meet deadlines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of a master plan of what samples are pulled and tested by working with the QA Manager on quality requirements and when results are needed for batch allocation.
  • Work closely with Purchasing to ensure that missing additional declaration tests are tested to meet all re-export requirements.
  • Reviews all inbound samples and verifies the determination Assignments
  • Sets up the sample planning in computer system and enters estimated completion dates
  • Checks to ensure Determination Assignments (test samples) are scheduled to the correct labs
  • Routes samples to internal/external testing labs or purity grow-out locations.
  • Reviews internal/external labs capacity planning to ensure that it aligns with needed completion dates.  Works with labs on prioritizing or re-prioritizing based on demand changes.
  • Reports estimated completion dates to QA and stakeholders and communicates any delays.
  • Enters all internal/external QC test results into system
  • Monitors external labs pathology websites and update results and initiate disinfecting processing if required.
  • Communicates all non-conforming results to Management and stakeholders.  Provide options as required to resolve issues
  • Runs the germ update program; runs update report, ensures samples are pulled by the warehouse on time, submits samples to labs and post results two weeks prior to the expiration date.
  • Scans and files hard copies of test documents and certificates and makes them available for export docs or verification.
  • Researches quality data in system and summarize results for inquiries and customer complaints
  • Runs monthly quality data reports for trend analysis and KPI's.
  • Retrieving existing samples from the warehouse
  • Navigating stairs and ladders in the warehouse to retrieve bags or pouches of seed
  • Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs & forklift driving

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in data management. Ag related business is preferred.     
  • The ideal candidate has worked in an analytical and detailed oriented environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have a background working with agronomy with a focus of vegetable seed QC testing and data management.
  • The ideal candidate will have worked in a rapid changing and growth company.
  • Extensive knowledge and extremely proficient in the use of manufacturing databases (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Office products
