Quality Engineer Needed- Direct Hire- Spokane!

Pay: DOE and Benefits from start!

Company: Growing manufacturing company with BOOMING BUSINESS!

Location: Spokane, WA But travel International 4-6 times a year! (Must have a Passport)

Role: Quality Engineer who can engage with customers and manufacturing engineers to ensure processes are in control and optimized. The ideal candidate will be able to apply lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement methodology.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Possess and maintains the statistical analysis skills to support the following:
    • Design of Experiments
    • Process Capability Studies
    • Measurement Systems Analysis
  • Is included and participates in a cross-functional team for new product launches. Participates in the following activities:
    • Evaluation of Quality requirements in Quote process
    • Informs quoting team of requirements and accommodations needed for customer quality requests
    • Participates in DFMEA activities to identify risks ahead of production planning
    • Works with manufacturing engineering on Process FMEA creation
    • Creates process control plan for part level as well as assembly processes
    • Ensures all new product introduction processes are completed prior to build
  • Analyzes production reports and test data to statistically quantify data, i.e.; identify negative or positive quality trends, process capabilities.
  • Coordinate detailed failure analysis of manufactured parts or purchased parts. Summarize findings and help drive response plans to ensure failures are utilized as opportunities for improvement.
  • Interacts with Procurement, Planning, Engineering and Customer on quality issues by conducting/reporting detailed defect analysis on specific issues.
  • Drives root cause analysis for supplier corrective actions and internally noted failures
  • Ensures supplier corrective actions are responded to and closed out on time and to the customers satisfaction
  • Conducts audits of processes in order to facilitate continuous improvement. Auditing may encompass management systems (ISO Internal Audits), manufacturing process audits and vendor audits as requested. May also assist during customer audits of manufacturing facilities
  • Provide documentation support to manage customer programs from NPI process into sustained production. Responsibilities may include the issuing of weekly / monthly reports, requesting of waivers or Deviations, issuing of Purges/Stop Ships, and managing RMA requests.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering related field.
  • Two to four years progressive experience in quality engineering or related engineering field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and demonstrate the ability to determine critical parameters and develop process controls.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to management and technical staff audiences. Ability to stand in front of small to large technical audiences and provide training.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a timely manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have knowledge of use and operation of standard office equipment and be familiar with commonly used email, Internet, word processing, databases and spreadsheets.
  • Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and materials. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with Medical, Automotive or Aerospace quality from a manufacturing perspective is preferred
  • In depth knowledge of one of the following processes:
    • PCBA
    • Sheet Metal
    • Injection Molding
    • Electro-Mechanical Assembly and Test
    • Internal Audit experience in an ISO Certified Organization would be an advantage
