Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Engineer with an excellent company. Great benefits, good company culture culture. The role of the Quality Engineer will be to take responsibility for the deployment and compliance of the Quality management system

. Specifically:

  • Ensuring the management system is effective in driving improved performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintaining the highest standards through robust policies and procedures.
  • Working with all employees to ensure a Quality focused culture.
  • Working closely with the Technical team to ensure process metallurgical investigations are carried out to facilitate the subsequent development of products and processes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Maintaining all management system documentation in line with Company and customer requirements including Standard Operating Procedures, Work Instructions and the Quality Manual.
  • Incorporating quality information into the visual management system to promote standard work and compliance to company requirements.
  • Driving Company compliance to Standard Operating Procedures and customer requirements.
  • Communicating the management system requirements effectively to all departments, including shop floor personnel, to promote a culture of quality.
  • Promoting the importance of improving our cost of quality and overall level of product and service quality performance throughout the Company.
  • Supporting the continual improvement of the management systems.
  • Ensuring that system changes, production trials, non-conformances and concessions are properly logged and authorised at the appropriate level of management in accordance with standard procedure.
  • Maintaining compliance with current and proposed external accreditations.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal quality control and external quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensuring both internal and external audits are completed effectively in line with the existing accreditations and Company requirements.
  • Working with the Purchasing department to ensure the technical compliance of suppliers with the requirements of the Company’s policies, specifications and procedures.
  • Ensuring an appropriate level of response to all customer complaints; typically using an 8D approach.
  • Ensuring robust root cause analysis is applied to customer complaints and internal non-conformances, and that robust corrective actions are identified and properly implemented.
  • Reviewing assessments of customer satisfaction and use this information to inform and direct Company strategy.
  • Carrying out technical projects to improve products and processes using the DMAIC approach.
  • Collecting and monitoring all relevant data and documented procedures for the purposes of routine management reporting, compliance processes and various SHEQ activities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree qualified in a metallurgical discipline (or demonstrable experience, or working towards a qualification).
  • Understanding of the ISO AS9100, ISO9001, and Nadcap accreditations
  • IT literacy (e.g. databases, full Microsoft Office package)
  • Able to react to unpredictable situations in a professional manner
  • Work effectively both within a team and independently

KEY EXPERIENCES

  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within a process metallurgy environment
  • Cross functional auditing
  • Root cause analysis tools including DMAIC, FMEA, 8D using 5 whys, Ishikawa etc.
  • Working with management systems
  • Customer relations
  • Communicating with all levels of employees within the organisation adapting communication style to suit the audience
