Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking for a Quality Inspector within Nashville, TN. 

SUMMARY

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles/evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Visually examines product to detect defects such as burrs, short parts, and damaged parts and as defined by inspection work instructions.
  • Measure parts to ensure conformity to dimensional specifications.
  • Reads work orders, test manuals, and performance specifications to determine testing procedure to be used.
  • Test functional performance of products.
  • Compare results with specifications and records test data.
  • Records quantity of material approved and rejected on inspection report.
  • Interprets engineering drawings and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics.
  • Records test data, applying statistical process control procedures.      
  • Sets up and performs destructive and nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products to measure performance, and mechanical characteristics.
  • Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate, and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
  • Calibrates test instruments according to specifications
  • Analyzes test results on defective units to determine cause of failure.
  • Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results and to resolve problems.
  • Evaluates data and communicates to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommend modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.

EDUCATIONS and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A) from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
