Job Description

Quality Manager
Maple Grove, MN (Direct-hire)

Summary:

  • Provide QMS Advancement, Guidance, Direction & Maintenance.
  • Provide Inspection and Quality Assurance Leadership to Manufacturing and the Quality Dept. to assure all products shipped meets customer specifications.
  • Is the Quality Liaison for customer requirements and internal systems issues.
  • Provide a Leadership Role for Continuous Improvement and Lean Initiatives.
  • Is a Training Resource for quality associated areas.

Responsibilities:

  • ISO/AS9100 Quality Representative for the company.
  • Quality Representative for other adopted standards as they become implemented.
  • Support Operations Manager by taking the lead for internal & external quality functions.
  • Lead Internal Auditor.
  • Initiate & facilitate analysis of internal and external quality performance.
  • Generate required documentation and reports.
  • Instruct and guide internal personnel in quality related processes.
  • Instruct and guide internal personnel in daily activities to support production requirements.
  • Initiate & facilitate Continuous Improvement and Lean efforts.
  • Verbal and written communication with internal and external customers.
  • Facilitate corrective and preventative action process.
  • Provide over-sight for PPAP & product qualification processes.
  • Provide over-sight to calibration and gage management process.
  • Provide statistical analysis support in the areas of process capability, gauge R&R, and design of experiments.
  • Evaluate and facilitate the implementation of new inspection equipment.
  • Interpretation of external standards as they relate to the contract machining industry.
  • Assist & support the Engineering Dept. with major project launches and improving existing business.
  • Work with sub-contractors for quality and delivery improvements.

Skills:

  • Knowledge of machining, assembly, and various metal coatings processes required.
  • SPC experience required.
  • PPAP or ISIR experience required.
  • ISO/AS9100 training and experience in an ISO/AS9100 company.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of blue print reading and geometric tolerance and dimensioning.
  • 5 plus years of Quality Engineering or related experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience supervising professional and/or technical staff. 
  • Full understanding of all inspection and support equipment needed for entire company.
  • Experience with gage calibration and maintenance systems.
  • Strong mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Knowledge in developing and leading Continuous Improvement / Lean Initiatives within a company.
  • Proven leadership and people development skills required.
  • Prior machining experience desirable.
  • CMM programming experience desirable.
  • Black Belt Training/certification desirable.
  • Knowledge of AS9100 implementation and maintenance is desirable.
