Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is partnering with a recognized leader in the manufacture and supply of crystals, fiber optics, precision optics, and optical assemblies for applications including optical communication, industrial lasers, life science, instrumentation, and semiconductor production. They are looking for a dynamic Quality Systems Manager to join their organization.

Basic Function of the Job

Responsible for all aspects of site Quality Management Systems which includes ownership of the site QMS, resolution of customer and supplier quality issues, and ongoing product reliability testing. Maintain site ISO 9001 certification which includes insuring all aspects of the ISO 9001 standard are consistently met such as document control, employee training, change control, and equipment calibration. Functional head of the internal quality system audit program and supplier quality audits. Responsible for the RMA (Return Material Authorization) process: single point of customer contact for RMA requests; performs root cause/failure analysis, maintains documentation that corrective and preventative action was taken. An additional duty includes coating chamber and product qualification and reliability testing to Telcordia and MIL standards.

Job Requirements


  • BS or Higher Degree in Industrial Engineering or a degree in a related field such as Physics or Mechanical Engineering.


  • 10+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Quality Management, or Reliability Engineering.
  • Experience with Quality Management and knowledge of various quality systems/tools, such as ISO9001, TL9000, Six Sigma, 8D. (or most current tools).
  • Experience with commercial software tools, Vintara a plus.
  • Lead Auditor Certification.
  • Experience with problem analysis and resolution.

Special Skills:

  • Deep understanding of ISO9001.
  • Understanding of thin-film performance attributes and their verification/test methods.
  • Highly organized to ensure everything is provided for audits and conducted flawlessly.
