Job Description

Quality Inspector (Contract to direct) $16-22/hr.

2nd shift 2:00pm-10:30pm

Volt has partnered with a global manufacturing company in search of a 2nd shift Quality Inspector!
The duties are to inspect material for conformance to requirements, communicate issues with other employees, including employees on the factory floor and engineers. The QA Technician will also perform dimensional calibration, provide technical leadership to inspectors and production personnel for QA issues and concerns, and be proficient with all measuring tools, including a coordinate measurement machine, form measuring machine, vision systems, and various hand tools. Candidate must be able to recognize and accurately use the correct measurement tool for the inspection needed.


1. Carefully inspect incoming production material for conformance to requirements and accurately record the results of inspections. 
2. Communicate the results of inspections in writing, using ERP systems, access databases, excel spreadsheets and through emails. The technician will notify the appropriate personnel in a timely manner when nonconforming material is found. 
3. Works with production, engineering, and other QA personnel to help them understand the results of an inspection, as well as provide recommendations for improving inspection techniques and throughput. 
4. Required to correctly use precision measuring tools such as an optical comparator, steel rules, micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, dial indicators, surface plates, gauge blocks, thread size attribute gauges, hole attribute gauges, hardness tests, and surface finish measurement equipment. 
5. Capable of measuring complex parts on a coordinate measuring machine (CMM) as well as developing measurement plans through programming the CMM. 
6. Will be required to calibrate measurement equipment, maintain calibration records, and coordinate the use of outside calibration suppliers for calibration of other precision measuring equipment and repairs to precision tools. 
7. Follow procedures that apply to the QA Technician position. 
8. Investigate and recommend new inspection tools and their applicability to current applications. 
9. Work with other personnel to help define problems with parts and materials; identify root causes; develop, implement, and verify solutions. 
10. Move material and products as needed to perform Technician responsibilities. 
11. Maintain an organized, effective and efficient workplace. 
12. Work in a safe manner. Work to keep accidents from happening. 
13. Drive continual improvements in quality processes and Quality team metrics for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost. 


1. Requires a 2 year associates degree or equivalent work experience and formal Quality Technician schooling/training. This includes use of metrology equipment, GD&T, and calibration training. In addition, 5+ years experience in a Quality Technician role. 
2. Strong computer skills, with ability to use email, Microsoft Office suite of programs, basic navigation of an ERP system, and other computer software. 
3. Candidate must be able to take courses or seminars as determined by QA management to improve/sharpen technical or other work related skills. 
4. Certification as a Quality Technician (CQT) or similar certifications are preferable.
