Job Description

Quality Technician (2nd & 3rd shift openings!) Direct-hire  St. Paul, MN

***2nd shift works 2:15pm – 10:45pm

***3rd shift works 10:15pm – 6:45am

Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process, compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products to ensure our products meet all customer specifications and quality standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with production operators and supervisors to solve quality issues and recommend improvements to processes.
  • Select products and material for inspection at specified stages in production process, tests products for dimensions and prepares reports.
  • Maintain plant processes and procedures to standard by using statistical methods for monitoring and charting; notifying production supervisor of noncompliance.

REQUIREMENTS:  

  • High school diploma or GED and 2+ years of quality inspection experience.
  • Understanding of processes and ability to identify problems. Must be able to identify/recognize inspection errors and initiate resolution. 
  • Knowledge of ISO and other related quality system standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and knows basic quality terms, definitions, concepts principles and practices. 
  • Experience using a variety of precision measuring instruments. (i.e.

micrometer, caliper, optical comparator).

  • Experience operating inspection and lab equipment.
  • Ability to regularly lift to 30 pounds. 
  • Must know basic statistical terms and techniques.
  • Must understand types of measurement, measurement terminology and the different types of measurement scales. 
  • Understanding of basic blueprint reading principles.
  • Strong math and intermediate reading skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities and good communication skills. 
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Word and ability to learn quality programs such as Minitab.
  • Corrective/Preventative Actions Report experience. 

 PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS:

  • General knowledge of GD&T, and understanding of the x, y, z coordinate system. (i.e. CMM usage both manual and program.)
  •  Ability to use inspection planning tools and perform a product audit; determine sample size for lots; pull random samples. (i.e. Lot control, sampling methods, etc.)
  •  Knowledge of testing methods. (i.e. Leak-testing, spectro-analysis, voidvolume, etc.)
  •  Experience identifying and reporting nonconforming material. (i.e. Visual and measurement methodology.)
  • Understanding of traceability (product, material and calibration certifications, etc.) 
  • Die casting/injection molding experience.
  • Lay-out/First Article experience.
  • Bilingual Hmong.
