Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions has 2 immediate openings for a Radiography Test Technician onsite at Caterpillar in Decatur, IL.

The Radiography Test technician is part of a team that provides non-destructive testing and part inspections, in this case for large steel castings. This position is focused on testing via a Gamma Cobalt Isotope source of radiation used to take very high power photographs of internal castings structures and defects. The defects that are being inspected for include gas, sand, and other foriegn objects.  In addition, the analysis can detect improper casting shrinkage.

This work supports various internal and external supplier quality audits to validate cast parts and structures meet Caterpillar weld engineering and manufacturing specifications. The radiography NDT Tech is responsible for tracking and entering inspection results in electronic databases.

While radiography is the required core responsibility, Magnetic particle (wet/dry), visual and other non-destructive inspection methods are also required.

The candidate must have 2 yrs of radiography experience, and/or college radiography courses from a NDT school.  Experience with Magnetic Particle testing is preferred. Must have basic shop-floor abilities, in order to perform some sample prep when required.  The candidate must demonstrate a good understanding of testing assumptions and required measurement/maintenance and calibration techniques. The candidate must possess computer skills required to perform all job functions including; basic PC skills, proficiency in MS Word/Excel. The candidate must be a self-starter and able to demonstrate teamwork skills along with strong written and verbal communication. The candidate must be willing to share their knowledge by training less experienced personnel. The candidate must be comfortable working in an environment where continuous improvement is the norm and participation is expected by all employees.
