Reliability Engineer Needed in Electronics Manufacturing Industry!

Responsible for performing the Reliability Testing Activities (Life Test and Environmental) necessary to establish and verify the current and future Reliability of Products. The Reliability Engineer’s essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Support new technology development programs by identifying required reliability tests, calculating associated Confidence Level, coordinating the execution of those tests, summarizing test results into MTTF/FIT graphs, and documenting test results. This work involves frequent interaction with new technology development and failure analysis engineers.
  • Lead device and system level risk assessment activities for new designs and design changes.
  • Support new product development by identifying required reliability tests, coordinating the execution of those tests, and formally documenting the test results for release to customers. This involves frequent interaction with Customers, Product Development, and the factory.
  • Support verification and validation activities for new designs and design changes.
  • Support process/material change activities (changes to existing processes/materials/packages) by identifying required reliability tests, coordinating the execution of those tests, and formally documenting test results.
  • Prepares product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Manage on-going reliability monitoring program by identifying products to be sampled and tests to be run. Follow-up on failures and advice management about the need for customer recalls and/or process improvement work.
  • Develop personal expertise on reliability concepts, test standards, and test equipment for electronic and opto-electronic devices.
  • As needed, manage day-to-day operations in the Reliability Test Lab. This would be in a back-up role to other staff members and would involve interaction with the technicians in the lab.

  • BS/BSEE in Physics or related technical degree and 4 - 7 years experience in Reliability engineering related to Electronic Devices.
  • Experience with optical devices is a plus.
  • Must be a "hands on" individual who knows the specifics of Reliability testing. Computer literacy and experience with spreadsheet and database programs.


  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Able to demonstrate proven experience as a strong team player with multiple organizations

  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills (including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, policies and procedure manuals – if applicable)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in front of groups of customers or employees or the organization.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
