Job Description

We’re in search of a R&D Manager for our growing & progressive client of ours outside of St. Paul. This position is responsible for overseeing all research and development activities. Primary duties include product development, material development, and technical support.

Responsibilities:

  • Learn company's products and quality system
  • Evaluate R&D team/formalize organizational path forward
  • Support product performance improvement efforts
  • Display excellent time management skills and ability to make sound decisions under tight time constraints
  • Support Sales and Marketing initiatives

Leadership:

  • Model a culture of rapid response, pit crew precision and exceptional customer service to all associates
  • Improve R&D effectiveness
  • Model servant leadership
  • Prepare project payback analysis as needed

Requirements:

  • Must have 4-year engineering degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Materials.
  • Proven experience in managing industrial experimentation and the use of statistics.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical issues to executive management in such a way that actionable alternatives are understood.

Preferred skills: 

  • Experience with patent law and IP strategy.
  • Supervision and employee development experience.
  • An established network in forest products and associated materials (adhesives, coatings, etc.).
