Robotics Perception Validation and Test Engineer

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

Research and develop new technology in computer vision, perception for semi-autonomous and autonomous machines

  • Create test cases against requirements, run tests and report on the results for features such as personnel detect, object detection, tracking, classification, terrain mapping, localization and others
  • Develop software tools and scripts to aid in perception software test execution and reporting
  • Create test scenarios around the machines at Pittsburgh Automation Center and operate equipment to run the tests

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer vision, Robotics, Mathematics or related field
  • Minimum 3-year experience software testing and/or development in these languages/environments: C++, Python, Matlab, Windows, and Linux OS
  • Very strong hands-on programming skills
  • Demonstrated working experience on a team 
  • Ability to operate construction equipment (Doesn’t need prior training, we will train)
  • Travel up to 10% to proving grounds, customer sites

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Any prior machine operation experience (construction equipment, farm tractor etc.)
  • Prefer experience developing and/or testing SW for autonomous systems
  • Experience in testing field robotics, computer vision, perception systems, or autonomous systems
