Job Description

Volt Workforce Solutions is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer with experience in Range and Launch Safety for complex aerospace systems.

As a System Safety Engineer, you will support the lead System Safety engineer on a Target vehicle program to ensure that the system safety program meets all applicable range/system safety requirements levied onto launch vehicle programs. 

This position will generate and maintain required Range/System Safety documents throughout the life of the program.

The System Safety engineer will generate and present status charts at program and customer meetings. You will be required to apply engineering principles to assess design compliance of a complex aerospace system, analyze data and provide justification for Range Safety waiver requests and hardware non-compliances.

Able to work independently and expected to identify technical issues, propose solution options, and follow through to resolve the issues with minor supervision.

The Safety Engineer is required to review contractual requirements (SOW, CDRLS, SDRLs, etc.) against expected deliverables for compliance.

Some travel will be required to provide System Safety support for meetings, integration and test activities at various range sites, and possibly launch operations. 

Required Qualifications:

  • US Citizen required to obtain and maintain DOD Secret clearance 
  • Ability to evaluate technical system-level safety requirements from the customer and ranges, and developing corresponding Range/System Safety documentation from those requirements.
  • Experience with complex aerospace flight System.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
  • System safety experience with rockets or missiles desired.
  • Experience with MDA MAP and Mil-Std-882E highly desired.
  • Experience with DOORS®, or similar requirements database software is desired.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or other scientific/technical disciplines and a minimum of five years of system safety or related experience.

Security Clearance:
Applicants selected must have ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
