Job Description

Volt has partnered with a leader who specializes in durable, DSA Pre-Approved modular schools, who is now hiring for a Safety Manager!

This is a Direct Hire position with competitive salary and great benefits

The Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that we comply with all health and safety laws. Will also be responsible for establishing policies that will create and maintain a safe workplace. The Safety Manager must have excellent attention to detail to identify hazards and will also be able to discover opportunities for improving conditions and execute various safety programs. The ability to communicate guidelines to a multidisciplinary workforce is essential. The goal is to ensure the workplace meets all legal expectations and actively supports occupational health and safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•    New Hire I Safety Orientation
•    Safety write-ups
•    Oversee approximately 300 employees
•    Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines
•    Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety
•    Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law
•    Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention
•    Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
•    Inspect equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
•    Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims
•    Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
•    Report on health and safety awareness, issues and statistics
•    Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
•    Maintains safety files and records.
•    Transport injured employees to appointments; transport employees to hospital in the event of an emergency
•    Manage Workers' Comp injuries with health professionals
•    Will work 90% in plant and 10% visiting job sites

Education and/or Experience

•    High School Diploma and/or College Degree; BS/BA in safety management or relevant field is preferred; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•    Proven experience as safety manager
•    Deep understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
•    Ability in producing reports and developing relevant policies
•    Good knowledge of data analysis and risk assessment
•    Excellent organizational and motivational skills
•    Outstanding attention to detail and observation ability
•    Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
•    Valid qualification in occupational health and safety
•    Plus, if experienced with or certified for Forklifts, Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts, Overhead Cranes, or Competent Person Fall Protection

Language Skills

Must speak, read and write in English and Spanish. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write speeches and articles using original or innovative techniques or style. Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
