Job Description


We are looking to hire a Safety Professional for our Client in Grimsby, ON for approximately a 12 months' assignment, with the possibility of extension through our Company Volt Workforce Solutions Canada.

  • Length of Assignment: 12 months assignment starting from 10/15/2018 to 10/14/2019 and onwards
  • Shift: generally from 8:30am-5pm EST (M-F) 
  • Hours per week (paid): 40hrs ; 8 hrs per day
  • Number of Openings: 1

This is an Entry level position into the Safety profession. The selected Employee will need to have an understanding of the principles and someone who can independently use the knowledge of those principles to comply with the regulatory agency and company standards for injury and illness reporting requirements necessary to document incidents.

  • Duties:
    • Works with employees and assists supervisors and others on injury prevention by identifying and correcting potential safety and health hazards as well as identifying unsafe actions in order to eliminate on the job injuries and illnesses.
    • Assists in developing recommendations for safety processes/programs to attain and sustain a hazard free workplace. This includes design and evaluation of components to monitor effectiveness.
    • Conducts audits to verify compliance to required regulations and company policies and then assures management is aware of items identified for proper and corrective actions.
    • Develops, directs and may conduct safety presentations and training.
    • Analyzes appropriate Environmental Health Safety (EHS) functional reporting metrics to identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Reviews new products, equipment, processes and facilities for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards; making recommendations if necessary prior to introduction.
    • Communicates and works with safety equipment suppliers

Major Duties:

  • Compiles and analyzes necessary data, documentation and correspondence to comply with safety regulations and health and safety management system requirements.
  • Conducts safety audits and risk assessments to identify noncompliance with  Company standards, processes and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participates in incident investigations and ergonomic reviews and assists in determining effective correction action.
  • Communicates results of analysis and interpretation to appropriate work group for awareness and any required action.
  • Develops, directs and may conduct safety presentations and training.
  • Participates in the reviews of new products, equipment and processes for potential hazards and compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
  • Responds to internal and external questions and requests for information relevant to safety and health issues from acquired knowledge and experience.


  • Investigation skills to determine root cause and conduct trend analysis of incidents.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and factory operations.
  • Understanding of occupational health, safety, industrial hygiene and ergonomic principles.

Relevant Work Experience required:

  • Experience in a manufacturing operation, manufacturing engineering, or industrial engineering environment.
  • 1 - 3 years OR, Experience in the Occupational Health and Safety profession in a manufacturing environment of 1 - 3 years
  • Must be able to support the Day shift Hours of work anywhere between Mon-Fri 8:30am-5pm EST
