Position Title:   Sales Engineer/Sales Account Manager      

Join a leading developer, and manufacturer of custom electro-magnetic equipment who is now hiring for an Sales Engineer. Serving the Aerospace industry with custom engineered solutions including electric motors, speed pickup transducers, and more recently starter generators for the past 60 years.

Located an hour north of Los Angeles, CA, they have a state of the art manufacturing facility with 70,000 square feet located in beautiful Camarillo, CA.

Summary:

The Sales Engineer/Sales Account Manager (SE/SAM) is responsible for all efforts to meet or exceed company bookings forecast and goals.  In addition to traditional sales calls, this will include coordination between the customer and the departmental disciplines (engineering, operations, quality, inside sales and accounting).  The SE/SAM must develop a keen situational awareness (information on customer, competition, pricing and programs) to assist in maintaining existing base business while contributing to the growth of the business through new opportunities.



Position Duties:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Technical
    • Must be well versed in technical features of products.
    • Must understand technical capabilities of company.
    • Must be able to understand technical requirements of customer and                              communicate these requirements as well as any other applicable industry requirements to the SAI product teams.   
  • Accounts
    • Maintain customer/account list and  customer/account files
    • Manage SAI Sales Representatives activity and follow up on opportunities
    • Maintain record of visits and telephone calls with customer.
    • Maintain contact with existing customers to keep abreast of existing orders in case customer requires assistance with delivery problems, pricing problems, technical support and to find out about new programs and contacts.
  • New Business Opportunities Pursue
    • Work independently and or with Business Unit Managers/Director of Sales to ensure on-time submittal of all new business proposals, including:
      • Coordinate with Engineering, Operation and Sales Team for all technical and commercial activities related to NewBiz pursuits.
    • Track all business opportunities in Confluence other databases.
    • Follow up with customers for open action items to ensure NewBiz wins.
    • Weekly update to SAI senior management.
  • Planning
    • Sales Plan
  • Prepare a sales plan for assigned region. 
    • Keep abreast of new programs and/or modifications to existing programs.
    • Research periodicals.
    • Continuously question contacts.
    • Follow up on leads from Sales Administration.
  • Other Duties as assigned by Director of Sales
     

Qualifications:

Education, Experience and Skills:

Skills / Aptitudes:

Effective oral and written communication skills; organizational skills and ability to motivate and task Representatives.  Must have sensitivity in dealing with both internal and external customers.    Professional demeanor and ability to remain calm and professionally diffuse difficult situations with the Customer.  Accuracy in daily work is essential. Must be computer proficient in Microsoft Office programs.  AS400 MAPICS experience a plus.

Experience:

A college degree in Business Administration, Engineering and or an aviation related background is required.  Fundamentals of business and accounting beneficial.  At least three years of technical sales dealing with customer engineers and procurement personnel. Experience should include finding new business with either existing or new customers.  Experience in custom part manufacturing, distribution, and/or overhaul and repair beneficial.



Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects.  The employee frequently is required to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, or crouch and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.  Travel required within the Region to support customers.
