Job Description

Union Sanitation Technician opening in Sebastopol.  Be part of this great Sanitation team, working with an amazing manager and co-workers. Our offers you an employee partnership and engagement environment plus Union benefits!

Pay: $16.60hr 

Shift: 7 p.m. general start time, Need to be available M-Sat and available for daily overtime

Union Fees: 

  1. $152.00 Teamsters Initiation fee (If never been a member)
  2. $34 Monthly Union Dues

The Sanitation Worker II position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing processing and packaging equipment in accordance with all company standards. Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Employer charges all employees with the responsibility to fully participate in all company policy and program initiatives for Food Legality, Food Safety, Food Quality and Food Defense; each employee, no matter what their position or job function,  serves a key role in contributing to safe, quality food.
  • Perform standard cleaning procedures as documented and trained for equipment and facilities. This includes: disassembly/assembly, application of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, scrubbing, and rinsing.
  • Use personal protective equipment as required for each cleaning task performed.
  • Combine and mix required cleaning agents as documented for each cleaning assignment.
  • Use caution and follow correct handling procedures.
  • Understands safe operation of equipment including safety devices and guards.
  • Understands correct labeling of chemicals and containers. Understand the use of, and safely use, cleaning chemicals.  Aspects which include safety, measurements and applications of the chemical.
  • Be able to follow SSOP's.
  • Collect and remove all remaining trash from production and packaging lines, and warehouse areas. Dispose of trash in outside trash dumpsters.
  • Collect recycle materials and dispose of in recycle bins.
  • Notify the Sanitation Supervisor or on-duty mechanic of any malfunctioning equipment immediately.
  • Understands and monitors water usage.
  • Return all cleaning tools, equipment, chemicals, etc. to the sanitation room after job duties have been completed.
  • Set up line and all equipment to company standards prior to production run.
  • Responsible for establishing priorities and working independently without direct supervision.
  • Follows all Manzana sanitation guidelines.   Understand and follow Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Follow safety rules, including those relating to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Overtime hours maybe required based on work demand.  Employee must be flexible with these hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.


  • High School Diploma, or equivalent and 1+ years of similar experience required.
  • Must have a basic mechanical knowledge working with tools.
  • Be able to Add, Subtract, Multiply, and Divide. 
  • The ability to work at high altitudes and learn to operate mechanical lifts.
    •  work from a ladder or platform in a safe manner.
    • The ability to work inside small, confined spaces.
    • Can learn multiple jobs and the proper procedures for performing these jobs.
    • Can work both independently and within a team.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties stated above, the employee is frequently required to walk on wet floors, go up and down ladders and stairs, set the HP hoses, handle cleaning chemicals, and work in wet and warm environments. The employee must have the ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to push and pull heavy equipment such as foamers, pumps, etc. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential demands of this job. Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy forklift traffic and work that must be performed in high places. The employee will be working around strong cleaning chemicals and must be able to wear the required PPE in conditions that may be very hot, very cold, and/or very humid. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, i.e. fan noise, steam noise. The work environment is subject to many of the above-described conditions on a day-to-day basis. It is essential to be able to perform all job functions while in the presence of these conditions.
