Job Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Safely operate and adjust machinery and equipment for full utilization.
  • Positions work piece against side guides and end stops or aligns layout lines under shear blade.
  • Tends power shear that cuts metal objects, such as sheets, plates, billets or bars, to specified length: Lifts work piece manually, to machine bed or roller table.
  • Sets up and operates equipment to cut, slot, groove, miter, and trim metallic and nonmetallic work pieces according to specifications.
  • Selects and installs blade on machine, using hand tools. Sets controls to adjust speed, feed rate, and blade tensions. Positions guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct work piece, using hand tools and measuring devices.
  • Scribes reference lines on material as guide for sawing operations, according to blueprints, templates, sample parts, or specifications. Mounts work piece in holding device, manually or using hoist. Operates saw to cut along scribed lines. Verifies dimensions of finished work piece, using measuring devices.
  • Properly identify and process paperwork necessary for material handling. Records specified data on production report.
  • Properly tag, band and package material
  • Conducts daily Cycle Counts of raw materials inventories.
  • Replaces worn or damaged saw blades, using hand tools. May assist maintenance personnel with saw maintenance and repair
  • This position will also be responsible for receiving of raw materials and recycling of waste material (plastic, stainless steel, etc.)
  • All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Capable of reading a tape measure, micrometers, blueprints and orders.
  • Good reading, writing and math skills as measured by a pre-employment test.
  • Close attention to details and good organization are required.
  • Ability to meet physical demands of position which are 95% of the work day (i.e. lifting up to 50 lbs. independently, pushing, pulling, standing, climbing).
  • Ability to work as a team member without close supervision to meet company and personal goals.
  • Ability to operating forklift.
