ARE you a DP Screw Machine Operator and seeking employment at this time?  Volt is seeking to hire for a highly reputable company in the Nashville, TN area.  Please read the following information regarding the position.  It is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity!

Job Description:

  • Set up and operate single or multiple spindle lathe screw machines equipped with automatic indexing and feeding mechanisms to machine metal bar stock by performing the following duties:
  • Read blueprints or job order for product specification such as dimensions, tolerance, number of parts be to be machined and tooling instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts and cutting tools to be used.
  • Positions and secures specified collets, bushings and stock pushers onto stock feeding mechanism and loads bar stock into feeding mechanism.
  • Install and adjusts specified cams, gears and stop to control stock and tool movements at each station.
  • Secures tools needed for job from Tool Crib.
  • Positions and secures tools in tool holders.
  • Set cutting speeds and feed rates.
  • Moves control to cycle machine through settings, stopping machine and adjusting tool positions and machine controls to allow for operating factors such as timing, clearance between moving parts and chip removal.
  • Starts machine, observes operation and inspects first run and sample workpiece to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
  • Replace worn tools and operate bench grinder to sharpen tools.
  • Assist maintenance machinist with machine maintenance when needed.
  • Machines nonmetallic materials.
  • Operate screw machines as assigned by supervisor per screw machine operator job description.
  • Maintain good housekeeping, report unsafe conditions to supervisor and perform other duties as deemed necessary by the department lead/supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily

Education:

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 to 3 months related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rule, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs

Reasoning Ability:

To apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Licenses:

May be required to obtain Tow Motor License

  • Regularly required to stand and use hands to finger, handle or feel.
  • Frequently required to walk and reach with hands and arms, talk or hear
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Must regularly lift and or move up to 40 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Would love to have someone that can run an ACME machine but certainly open to someone that can run Davenport or Wickman, please be willing to be cross-trained.

Work environment:

Noise level is usually very loud

Could expect overtime-Saturdays  maybe 4-6 hours of OT
