Security Engineer

This is an estimated over 24 months contingent/temporary position in San Diego, CA and is offered through Volt Workforce Solutions. This position serves as an experienced, individual contributor with solid business knowledge and technical expertise responsible to deliver security expertise leadership that are complex in nature and that support and enhance security performance and compliance to meet Solar’s business needs.

The individual will be responsible for the identification, analysis, evaluation and adoption of security technologies supporting Information Security Strategy and align with architecture standards and patterns. Works closely with business partners, all areas of Solar Information Technology Solutions, business units, and strategic partners and vendors to ensure security initiatives are in line with all other key initiatives

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Execute Application Security Risk assessments, Third Party Risk Assessments
  • Ensure accurate Logical Technical Architectures are completed as well as Security Configuration Baselines
  • Partner with Project Managers, Application/Solution Architects to ensure the solution is aligned to Information Security Policies and Information Security Directives
  • Mature application security assessment capabilities, deployment solutions, and security artifact requirements
  • Effectively communicate complex IT risk and security issues to various levels of IT and the business organization
  • Provide architectural guidance and recommendations on security capabilities, technical issues, and process improvement opportunities
  • Obtain and maintain knowledge on industry practices and trends, existing security procedures, directives, data classification and data protection
  • Provide status updates and key findings related to Security Projects and service requests
  • Driving compliance to enterprise procedures, policies, and processes

Ongoing Training and Certification

Security Engineers are expected to maintain relevant certifications and grow as information security professionals.  This is accomplished through internal and external information security training opportunities.

 Required Skills& Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience is required
  • 5 + years of working experience in Information Technology
  • Hands on experience in Information Security Domains
  • CISSP Certification
  • Solid understanding of information security standards & practices
  • Risk analysis knowledge
  • Enterprise security architecture experience
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills are essential

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience managing Endpoint Protection Software suites.
  • Secure Development Software Life Cycle
  • Knowledge of standards such as ITIL, and/or ISO 27001
  • Threat model assessment
  • Application Security Expertise
